Founder of Online Website Marketing, working with Southern California service businesses since 2005. Everything published on this site is written or reviewed by Terry Sr., so when a page tells you what to expect from a service, that is coming from someone who has delivered it.

Terry Sr., Founder

Terry Sr. founded Online Website Marketing in 2005, when most local service businesses were still deciding whether a website was worth the trouble. The company grew out of a family banner making business, which is a useful place to learn marketing: you find out quickly whether a sign brings people through the door. That same test still applies to everything published here. Over 21 years he has worked with home services companies, auto shops, healthcare practices, senior care providers, and family owned service businesses across San Bernardino, Riverside, Orange, and Los Angeles counties.

Where the experience comes from

Not certificates. Years of doing the work for businesses like yours.

  • Founded Online Website Marketing in 2005 and has run it since
  • Grew the company out of a family banner making business as the web replaced print
  • Works directly with owners of home services, auto, healthcare, and senior care businesses
  • Serves the Inland Empire, Orange County, and Los Angeles County from a Chino base

What we write about

These are the areas covered on this site, and the ones Terry Sr. works in directly.

  • Local SEO and Google Business Profile
  • Reputation and review management
  • Lead generation for service businesses
  • Paid search for local trades
  • Website conversion for small businesses
  • Marketing for family owned companies

How a small team is an advantage

Larger agencies sell you to a senior person and hand the work to a junior one. That does not happen here, because there is no one to hand it to. The person you talk to on the first call is the person who does the work and the person who answers when something goes wrong. For a service business owner who has been passed around an account team before, that is usually the part that matters most.

It also sets an honest limit. We take on the number of clients we can genuinely serve, and when that is full we say so rather than stretching thin and doing everyone a worse job.

What twenty years of watching this change actually taught us

The company started in 2005, out of a family banner making business. That is a useful place to learn marketing. You hang a sign, and you find out within a week whether it brought anyone through the door. Nobody argues about impressions when the question is that simple.

The web changed the tools and left the test alone. Search engines have rewritten their rules many times since 2005. Directories mattered, then stopped mattering. Keywords in the page title were most of the job, then they were not. Maps arrived and became the main event for local trades. Now answer engines summarise the page instead of sending the click.

Through all of it, one thing has held. The businesses that do well are the ones that answer a real question better than anyone nearby, and are easy to reach when someone decides to call. Every tactic that stopped working was a shortcut around one of those two things.

What we take on, and what we turn down

Saying this plainly saves everyone a wasted first call. A small company has to be honest about its edges.

Do this

  • Service businesses where a customer searches, calls, and books. That is the work we know.
  • Owners who want to understand what is being done, not just receive a monthly report.
  • Businesses willing to fix the thing that is actually broken, even when it is not the thing they asked about.
  • Long horizons. Local search rewards steady work over a year more than a burst over a month.

Not this

  • Anyone who needs a guaranteed ranking. Nobody can honestly promise one, so we do not.
  • Businesses moving or rebranding within a few months. Wait, then start, rather than paying twice.
  • Work that depends on fake reviews, keyword stuffed business names, or anything else that risks the profile.
  • More clients than we can actually serve. When we are full, we say so.

How the work actually runs

The first conversation is diagnostic, not a pitch. We look at what is currently happening: where the profile ranks, what the site says, where the reviews sit, what the competition is doing. That usually surfaces one or two things that matter far more than everything else.

Then we say what we would do first and roughly what it should change. If the honest answer is that the budget is better spent somewhere else, or that the problem is a phone nobody answers rather than a ranking, that is what we say. It costs us work sometimes. It also means the clients we do take on knew what they were buying.

After that it is steady monthly work with a review of what moved and what did not. When something is not working, you hear it from us before you notice it yourself. That is the part most people say they were missing from whoever they used before.

What you should expect from anyone you hire, including us

These are reasonable things to ask for. If an agency cannot give them, that tells you something.

  • You own every account

The Google profile, the website, the ad accounts, the analytics. All in your name, with your access, permanently.

  • A plain answer to what was done this month

Not a dashboard of numbers. A sentence about what changed and why.

  • Being told when something is not working

Early, and without being asked. Bad news that arrives late is the expensive kind.

  • No guarantee of a ranking

Anyone offering one is either misinformed or hoping you are.

  • The ability to leave

You should be able to stop and keep everything you paid for.

  • A named person who does the work

Not a team inbox and not whoever picks up the ticket that day.

Questions people ask before the first call

Who will I actually be talking to?

The same person throughout. This is a small family business, so the person on the first call is the person doing the work and the person who answers when something goes wrong. There is no account team to be handed to, which is the point.

Do you work with businesses outside Southern California?

The focus is San Bernardino, Riverside, Orange, and Los Angeles counties, because local knowledge is most of the value in local search. Knowing how far someone in Chino will drive, or which trades are busy in August, is not something you can look up. For a business elsewhere we would usually say so rather than pretend that knowledge transfers.

What if I want to do some of this myself?

That is a reasonable plan and we will tell you which parts are worth your time. The Google profile work is mostly time rather than money, and an owner who does it well often gets more out of it than an agency would. The parts that grind, like listing cleanup and steady content, are usually where hiring out makes sense.

How this site is written

  • Every page is written or reviewed by Terry Sr. before it goes live.
  • Dates shown as last updated are real, taken from when the page content actually changed.
  • Claims that rest on outside data link to the source so you can check it.
  • Case studies are labelled as illustrative unless they name a real client with permission.
  • No page on this site guarantees a ranking, because nobody can.
