About
Careers at Online Website Marketing
We are a small team doing detailed work for local service businesses. If you like owning outcomes and explaining your reasoning, this may be a good place to work.
Call (714) 823-3164 or ask a question. Clear recommendations, even if we never work together.
Online Website Marketing hires slowly, and only when the workload calls for it. We are a small marketing agency in Chino, California. Roles usually cover local SEO, content writing, paid media, and web development. Hiring means a short application, a paid sample project, and a conversation about how you think.
We hire only when the workload genuinely requires it, so there may be no open role at the moment. Applications are still read and kept on file, and we reply either way.
What It Is Like to Work Here
This is a small company doing careful work for real local businesses, which shapes the day differently than a large agency does. The clients are plumbers, dentists, roofers, attorneys, and shop owners. When something we build works, someone hires another technician. When it does not, a real person feels it. That closeness keeps the marketing work honest and makes it hard to hide behind vanity metrics. Roles here are broad rather than narrow. Someone doing local search work also thinks about the landing page, the call tracking, and whether the phone gets answered. We would rather have a few people who understand the whole system than many who each own one slice and none who can explain the outcome. The pace is steady rather than frantic. Core hours are seven days a week, 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM Pacific, and we do not treat late nights as evidence of commitment. Most work happens remotely with scheduled calls, though we are based in Chino and meet in person when a project calls for it. Writing well matters here, because most of the job is explaining things clearly.
Who Tends to Do Well Here
The people who thrive here share a few traits. They are curious about why something worked, not just whether it did. They can write a clear paragraph, since almost everything we produce is either words or an explanation of words. They are comfortable saying I do not know yet, then going and finding out. They notice details, because most local search problems are small things left uncorrected: a wrong category, a broken form, a phone number that does not match across listings. They can talk to a business owner without hiding behind jargon, and they take the owner's pressures seriously. They also have a working sense of ethics about this industry. If your instinct is to buy reviews, spin content, or promise a client a number one ranking to close a deal, you will be unhappy here and we will be unhappy with you. People who struggle here are usually those who want a narrow, fully specified task list handed to them each morning. The marketing work involves judgment and ambiguity. That suits some people and frustrates others, and both reactions are valid.
- Curious about why results happened, not just that they did
- Writes clearly in plain language
- Comfortable with ambiguity and finding answers independently
- Detail oriented, because small errors cause most local search problems
- Talks to business owners without jargon
- Unwilling to take shortcuts that risk a client's reputation
The Kinds of Roles We Hire For
We hire against actual workload rather than a growth plan, so openings are occasional rather than constant. When we do hire, roles usually fall into a few areas. Local search work covers Google Business Profile management, listings cleanup, geogrid analysis, on page optimization, and local link building. Content work covers service pages, city pages, articles, and the kind of writing that has to be both accurate about a trade and readable by a homeowner. Paid media covers Google Ads campaign build and management for local service businesses, with an emphasis on call quality rather than click volume. Web work covers building and improving fast, accessible sites that convert, plus technical SEO. There is also client communication, which is not a separate role so much as part of every role here. Experience helps, but we care more about judgment and writing than about a specific list of tools. If you have run local campaigns for a trade business and can explain what you learned when something failed, that is worth more to us than a certification list.
- Local SEO and Google Business Profile specialist work
- Content writing for service pages, city pages, and articles
- Google Ads and paid media management for local services
- Web development, technical SEO, and conversion work
How We Hire
Our process is short, and we try to respect your time because we know how much unpaid effort job hunting already takes. First, you send a note and whatever work sample makes sense for your area. We read every one and reply either way, even when there is no open role. Second, if there is a fit, we have a real conversation, usually 30 to 45 minutes, about how you think and what you have worked on. This is not a trivia quiz about ranking factors. We would rather hear you talk through a campaign that went sideways and what you changed. Third, for most roles we pay you for a small sample project, typically two to four hours of work at a fair rate. It mirrors something we actually do: an audit of a real profile, a service page draft, or a campaign structure. Paid, because asking for free work is not how we want to start. Fourth, a short conversation about scheduling, expectations, and pay. We tell you the range up front rather than making you guess or negotiate blind.
- Send a note and a relevant work sample
- A 30 to 45 minute conversation about how you think
- A paid sample project of two to four hours
- A direct conversation about pay, hours, and expectations
How to Apply
Email terrysr@online-website-marketing.com or use the form on this page. Put the kind of work you want to do in the subject line, such as local SEO, content, paid media, or web. In the message, tell us three things: what you have worked on, something you got wrong and what you changed because of it, and why local service businesses interest you. A resume is fine but not required. A link to work you are proud of helps more. If you write, send two samples, ideally including something written for a non expert audience rather than for other marketers. If you do local search work, send a profile or account you improved and describe what you changed and why. We read applications ourselves and reply, usually within a week or two. If there is no opening, we say so plainly and keep your note on file rather than leaving you wondering. We are based in Chino, California, and reachable at (714) 823-3164 during business hours if you have a question before applying.
